The Web is yours
What will your online presence look like?

Depending on your Web design needs there are 3 choices – static, content managed and e-commerce. A static Web design is typically one page for nothing more than non-dynamic content. For instance, a small business wants a minimal Web presence with a photo of their storefront, a short list of services and some contact information. The owner is sure the page will rarely need updating so this type of Web design is a good solution. Content managed and e-commerce Web sites are database-driven. These Web frameworks are designed so even someone with no coding experience can create content that will keep visitors engaged.
While I still code the occasional static site, I always recommend a database-driven Web site. Once in place it is scalable, SEO-ready and much easier for the end-user to manage.
Content Managed
Get ready to take charge of your Web site!
Does that four letter word “HTML” make you run from your computer? If you ever used Word or WordPerfect, adding text and images to a content managed Web site should be a breeze. Using simple but powerful tools, anyone can create pages, contact forms, navigation links, and more – without any coding knowledge! Watch as your Web site grows, and without relying on the elusive Web guy.
Your new content managed Web site should have:
- a simple to use editor for content management.
- easy file management for uploading videos and images.
- dynamic and easy to create menu system.
- a commenting system so visitors can respond to content.
- log in access from any Web browser.
- mobile device responsiveness for smart phones and tablets.
Electronic Commerce
Physical products? Check. Digital products? Check.
Professional e-commerce Web design is critical to your online success. E-commerce Web site owners are hard pressed to get a sale if visitors are not impressed with layout or functionality. Clean layout + smooth functionality = sales.
Your new e-commerce Web site should be:
- flexible enough to keep visitors from becoming frustrated.
- search engine optimized so anyone can find it.
- straightforward back-end product entry for digital and physical goods.
- mobile device responsive for smart phones and tablets.
As with my content managed solution, page creation is a simple process. Customize tax rates, shipping providers, product information, stock levels and payment options. Customers can track orders, create wish lists and leave feedback in the form of testimonials.
Take a vacation while your Web site does the heavy lifting 24/7.

Doing it yourself
With a little bit of help

Content managed or e-commerce, I work with my clients to develop a strategy that includes search engine optimization, smooth functionality and a great layout. I assist with registering a domain name, setting up hosting and even finding the right payment gateway. We collaborate on page titles, meta tags and meta descriptions to make the new Web site search engine optimized. After the Web site is deployed I explain how to create and style content.
I encourage every client to purchase a Web Maintenance Plan. Those who do not can still ask general questions for the first three months. Thereafter I charge a nominal fee on a per incident basis. It’s all about helping someone easily start a great online presence.
